Researchers' night at CBGP
Interactive workshops for children, adolescents and families at the Laboratory of Plant Cultivation and Greenhouses of the Center for Plant Biotechnology and Genomics (CBGP), and a guided tour of the facilities of the CBGP research center. You will also be able to participate in the new CBGP radio podcast program “Feed your mind”.
The relevance of food production and the impact of research and development of new technologies in achieving the goal of having a healthier diet and producing food in a more sustainable way will be shown in a very didactic way. We will analyze the collective and individual responsibility of each citizen in environmental sustainability, avoiding, for example, food waste. Attendees will receive a sustainable detail.
This activity is promoted by researchers from the Center for Plant Biotechnology and Genomics, CBGP (UPM-INIA / CSIC), which is a Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence and has the collaboration of the Environmental Education Classroom of the Pozuelo de Alarcón City Council.
How to get there:Own vehicle or free bus that will leave from Madrid (Ciudad Universitaria metro exit at 5:15 p.m., return at 9 p.m.)

CBGP launches 'Alimenta Tu Mente', a new podcast on sustainable food production
The Center for Biotechnology and Plant Genomics (CBGP) of the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the National Institute of Agricultural Research and Technology of CSIC, has launched the podcast ALIMENTA TU MENTE, a new space to raise awareness about the importance of producing food in a sustainable way. A corner to disseminate the research work of the CBGP and bring the world of science and research to the general public.
The functions of the Delegation will be to support, among others, actions that promote:
-
Equal access to scholarships
-
Equal access to representative governance structures: gender balance on all CBGP boards and funding panels.
-
Equal recruitment and access to equal opportunities: publish gender-disaggregated data on promotions/appointments/funding, analyse practices in recruitment and performance review, and ensure the presence of women researchers on tender lists..
-
Publication/authorship: collect data, analyse and publish statistics on authorship, promote women as reviewers, editors, administrators and funding agency committees.
-
Recognise and reward excellence: nominate women for scientific awards and provide leadership in STEAM-girls actions to be launched and outreach activities.
-
Mentoring programme for the professional development of young women scientists.
-
Promote institutional policies of zero tolerance towards sexual harassment and discrimination.
As a first step, an initial delegation responsible for this programme has been created. We call on the delegation, especially the male staff of the CBGP, to join the delegation as representatives of their groups in order to achieve a more egalitarian delegation. Likewise, we encourage all those who want to participate in this initiative, contributing ideas, participating in the activities that will be developed, etc....
