CSIC/UPM Institutional Visit to the Center for Plant Biotechnology and Genomics

Eloisa del Pino, president of the CSIC and Óscar García Suárez, rector of the UPM made an institutional visit to the CBGP.

 

Last week, the president of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Eloísa del Pino, and the rector of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), Óscar García Suárez, made an institutional visit to the Center for Plant Biotechnology and Genomics (CBGP) at the UPM's Montegancedo Campus in Pozuelo de Alarcón. The CSIC president was accompanied by several members of the CSIC executive team, including the Vice President for Organization and Institutional Relations (VORI), Carlos Closa, and the CSIC Institutional Delegate in Madrid, Enrique Sastre. The UPM rector was accompanied by the Deputy for R&D Centers and Institutes, Carlos Molpeceres.  

During the visit, the CSIC president met with the CBGP management team and all INIA/CSIC staff at the CBGP, exchanging impressions, questions, and future actions. The president commented that the CBGP's scientific level is among the best in the CSIC, holding the Severo Ochoa seal of scientific excellence. Both CSIC and UPM delegations visited the CBGP's unique, cutting-edge facilities and were informed about several lines of research in areas such as plant development, plant-environment interaction, synthetic biology, and computational biology. In addition, the CSIC/UPM delegations were informed about the center's innovation, knowledge transfer, and entrepreneurship strategy.
