Araceli Díaz Perales, CBGP researcher, elected member of the scientific council of the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition

Dra. Araceli Díaz Perales, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the UPM, and Principal Investigator of Plant Allergens Group at the CBGP, has been elected as a member of the AESAN Scientific Council.


The AESAN is the body of the General State Administration that is responsible for planning, coordinating and developing strategies on food security and nutrition. In addition, it is in charge of the dialogue with the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) as well as other international institutions in such areas.

The AESAN Scientific Committee is made up of twenty members chosen from among the main Spanish experts in the aforementioned areas. Its functions are to provide scientific advice to the Agency, provide scientific opinions on food safety and nutrition, define the scope of the research work necessary for its functions and coordinate the work of the groups of experts that carry out activities to evaluate risks within the framework of the Agency's actions.

Dra. Díaz Perales has been chosen in her capacity as an internationally recognized expert in the field of allergies and food allergens, in which she has been working for the last decades and to which she has made fundamental contributions.
