The Spanish Television program Lab24 published a report about the research and innovation activities carried out at the CBGP (UPM-INIA), which is one of the Spanish centers with the seal of Excellence Severo Ochoa.
Lab24, the science and technology dissemination program of TVE, has broadcast on the Channel 24 hours the report recorded in the CBGP (UPM-INIA) a few months ago. In this report it is shown some of teh the research and innovation activity of the CBGP (UPM-INIA), which has Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence (2017-2021) seal granted by Spanish Research Agency. In this Lab24 report you will be able to know details about some of the cutting-edge research activities that we are developing at the centre, such as obtaining cereals that fix atmospheric nitrogen, the identification of biomolecules that regulate root development or active plant immunity and resistance to pathogens, the discovery of the allergens that cause food allergies or the potential of computational biology tools in the progress of science and innovation in the area of agroforestry biotechnology, aiming to reach a more sustainable agricultural production. The CBGP (UPM-INIA) is a member of the Alliance of Centers of Excellence Severo Ochoa and Units of Excellence María de Maeztu.
About the CBGP (UPM-INIA)
CBGP was created in July 2006 as a joint UPM-INIA research centre with a double goal: to carry out the most advanced research aimed at understanding plant function, and to contribute to fulfil the needs of the economic agents within the agriculture, forestry and environment productive sectors that are potential users of this research. CBGP also seeks to have an educational role, and strives to become a reference centre for training of both scientists and technicians in the fields of plant biotechnology and genomics, an area not fully developed in Spain at present.
The participation of CBGP(UPM-INIA) in VII Bioinformatics Student Symposium meeting is integrated in the novel “Computational and Systems Biology and Genomics Program” (CsBGP) that has been launched by the CBGP (UPM-INIA) in the frame of its Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence strategic plan.
