CBGP (UPM-INIA) “Severo Ochoa” Summer School for Undergraduate Students

Apply until June 6th 2019

The Centre for Plant Biotechnology and Genomics (CBGP, UPM-INIA) has opened the call for a new edition of its Summer School program for undergraduate students. This program is aimed at providing an introductory and practical formation in plant/computational biology and biotechnology to undergraduate students with interest in the field of plant science.

Eleven undergraduate students from the European Union will have the chance to spend three weeks at CBGP (UPM-INIA) on July 2019. During these weeks, the students will become familiar with a diverse set of laboratory techniques and computational biology tools used in the experimental approaches performed in our labs to characterize and understand the genomic structure and function of plants and their associated microorganisms.

Each student will be integrated in a scientific group of the CBGP (UPM-INIA) under the supervision of a principal investigator and will have the support of a postdoc and/or experienced PhD students of this group. The student will be involved in a research project and will complete a brief experimental work.

The CBGP (UPM-INIA) Summer School Program includes training in transversal skills such as innovation, professional development and science dissemination given by CBGP (UPM-INIA) members. The selected students will be integrated in the activities of the CBGP (UPM-INIA) and will have the opportunity to participate in the Center scientific activities like the weekly seminars organized by CBGP (UMP-INIA) and to meet the prestigious international scientist invited to this seminar program.

The selected students will also have the opportunity to know the excellent CBGP (UPM-INIA) training programs that includes the Master in Computational Biology the Master in Agroforestry Biotech, and the PhD Program on Biotechnology and Genetics Resources of Plants and Associated Microorganisms.
