II Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Madrid regional meeting (II BioinfoCAM): CBGP (UPM-INIA), October 16th 2019.

The Centre for Plant Biotechnology and Genomics (CBGP, UPM-INIA) will host the II Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Madrid regional meeting on 16th October 2019. This meeting is organized after the 2018 successful first meeting that had more than 60 attendants from 33 research groups of the Community of Madrid. The II BioinfoCAM is a forum of networking a new ideas development among different groups from the fields of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology in the Madrid region. In this new edition we expect to duplicate the number of attendants. They will have the opportunity to present their more recent research developments in areas like translational bioinformatics, systems biology and networks, genomics, proteomics and structural biology. The meeting will include both oral talks and poster sessions from distinct research groups. During the meeting there will be time to discuss about new ideas and projects and to establish future collaborations, promoting the cooperation and the achievement of novel scientific developments of excellence in the Madrid region, to be leader in this area of research.

Concurring with the II BioinfoCAM, the VII Bioinformatics Student Symposium will take place on 17th October at the same venue, organized by the ISCB Spanish Regional Students group. In this event bioinformatics students of Spain are welcome to attend to share their scientific progress and expectation. They will have the opportunity to be advised by outstanding researchers of the field and a keynote invited speaker.

About the CBGP (UPM-INIA)

CBGP was created in July 2006 as a joint UPM-INIA research centre with a double goal: to carry out the most advanced research aimed at understanding plant function, and to contribute to fulfil the needs of the economic agents within the agriculture, forestry and environment productive sectors that are potential users of this research. CBGP also seeks to have an educational role, and strives to become a reference centre for training of both scientists and technicians in the fields of plant biotechnology and genomics, an area not fully developed in Spain at present.

The participation of CBGP(UPM-INIA) in II BioinfoCAM meeting is integrated in the novel “Computational and Systems Biology and Genomics Program” (CsBGP) that has been launched by the CBGP (UPM-INIA) in the frame of its Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence strategic plan.
