Cristina Gómez won the first prize for the best contribution to an international congress of allergology for her work on baker’s asthma

Cristina Gómez Casado, a predoctoral fellowship a recent doctorate from the research group "Molecular basis of allergenicity and cross- reactivity of plant foods" led by Araceli Diaz Perales, has recently won the award for the best scientific poster, at the International Symposium on Molecular Allergology (ISMA ), organized by the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), which took place from 5th to 7th December in Vienna (Austria).

This initiative is part of the novel strategy of Technology Transfer coordinated by Gonzalo León, Director of the recently founded Centro de Apoyo a la Innovación Tecnológica (CAIT) from the UPM. In this novel initiative of technology valorization and commercialization the CAIT will be supported by Plant Response Biotech, a spin-off of the UPM.

Luis Rubio at TEDxCibeles Change 2013: this meeting is part of the international TEDxChange event, which was simulcasted in more than 50 countries

In this conference Dr. Luis Rubio explained how his laboratory aims to increase cereal crop productivity by making plants acquire nitrogen from the atmosphere rather than from synthetic nitrogen fertilizers. Their purpose is to help small farmers increase crop profits and overcome poverty, in full alignment with strategies of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
